The Beauty of Joseon Ginseng Essence Water is so good! It leaves your skin feeling really fresh. It’s helped with the tiny bumps on my forehead and keeps the moisture on your skin. I have dry skin so if I leave it without any moisturizer, it becomes a bit dry. However, if you use a moisturizer, it locks the moisturizer better than when it’s by itself. I use this with the Rovectin cleanser and Illiyoon ceramide cream.

I was a bit hesitant to purchase this, as I am not usually a fan of ginseng. However, the fragrance with this product was fairly minimal and slightly earthy/herbally. I appreciated the packaging, which allows you to control how much product is dispensed at once. Though I can not speak to the long-term effects, I felt that this was an adequately hydrating serum with a light viscosity that will easily allow you to apply multiple layers as needed without concern of having the product feel too heavy or sticky.

My skin type is dry and there are times when my skin is oily but depending on the weather and other factors. I do find this toner to help provide my skin moisture especially since the weather has changed to more drier and colder. I like that the toner is non abrasive and is very gentle on my skin. I really like this essence/toner! It has a thicker-than-water consistency. The consistency reminds me a bit of Missha Artemisia Calming Essence. However, unlike Missha, it does not leave a film on top of my skin. I use several layers of this toner (7 skin method), and it still doesn't leave my skin tacky or sticky. It is very soothing and hydrating. After using this, my skin feels supple and bouncy. My skin is very sensitive to the sun, so after long exposure to the sun whether I have sunscreen on or not, my skin will start to hurt. Putting this toner on afterwards instantly soothes it. This toner does not sting or burn my eyes. It's a very, very gentle toner. Overall, I would repurchase it just for the excellent soothing effect.

If I'm being honest, I purchased this because of a sale. I've read that the quality, type, and age of ginseng greatly impact the efficacy of the claims. I don't have the patience to research every ingredient, so I usually avoid unfamiliar products, but I also don't have the willpower to resist such a good sale. My skin is usually both oily and dry (what did I do to deserve this) but has been feeling hydrated and balanced. I credit this to some of the ingredients in this toner. Probably the niacinamide in the formulation, which I've heard dermatologists on YouTube say controls sebum production and stops trans epidermal water loss. Shoutout to Dr.Dray for teaching me fancy (science based) skincare terms :3. I haven't been using it long enough to claim any anti-aging properties, but it is an antioxidant known to have anti inflammatory properties. You can look up ginsenosides, an active component in gingseng if you're into the science of it. Bonus: Panax is the most studied ginseng.

I am a big fan of Korean skincare packaging....manufacture and expiration dates are included on the box and usually on the bottle too. I like that the boxes come sealed. There was also a foil seal under the cap so I know the product was super fresh. The bottle features a reducer in the neck which makes it easy to dispense the right amount of toner without it all pouring out. The essence is a dark brownish-red color so I might be careful with application if I were wearing a white shirt. The texture is indeed water like and feels soothing when applied to the skin. There is no scent that I can detect. My skin feels hydrated which helps additional products penetrate nicely. It pats in easily so I can move on to my next steps without waiting. I am tempted to transfer some to a spray bottle as I feel it would be a wonderful refresher during the day.
