not sure if i noticed any brightening, but this is very light. it absorbs very quickly and leaves no "residue" behind. i almost wish it was a bit thicker because i feel like my skin is always still a tad under hydrated. probably won't be getting this again but i think this would be great for the summers or those with oily/acne prone/sensitive skin
