I haven't tried to use it in place of base makeup, but if you want a nice tone up cream, this is it. You can't use as much of it as you would your sunscreen though, or else it will look like way too much. So for adequate sun protection you should still use sunscreen underneath. For fair skin this looks quite natural after blending out
